Keefer Block wins with strong identity

Community-minded Solterra crafts winner

The Solterra Group of Companies has won numerous Georgie Awards since first opening its doors for business 15 years ago. Spokesperson Laura Rizzo says: “Our team at Solterra is very community-minded, creative, loves architecture, and loves home building. We specialize in boutique communities with distinct, unique architecture. We look for real estate development opportunities where we can add value and something special to the neighbourhood mix.”

Solterra took away three Georgies for 2013, for Best Project Identity, Best Interior Design Display Suite (Single-Family or Multi-Family), and Best Multi-Family Kitchen.

Solterra’s Keefer Block project figured prominently in winning all of these awards.

There were an abundance of storylines in developing the Keefer Block project identity, Rizzo says. “We loved the mix of history, culture and character of Vancouver’s Chinatown neighbourhood, along with the vibrant new development that is occurring and transforming the area. Our tag line of ‘Heritage Meets Modern’ reflects what we see happening in the neighbourhood.”

Winner for Best Interior Design Display Suite, Keefer Block’s presentation centre features the ‘Modern Flat’ floor plan where, Rizzo says: “Functionality, practicality and livability were all considered for this small space. The ‘wow factor’ emerges from a combination of the standard home elements — our level of interior finishes, the Italian designed cabinetry, European appliances, luxurious stone counters, and beautiful accent tiles and the actual merchandising of the suite, which reflects the typical buyer we envisioned. The display suite makes the home relate to the buyer; visitors can see how they would live in the home.”

Rizzo continues: “Our ‘Modern Flat’ has an urban edge — a mix of eclectic style and modern conveniences. The retro neon sign, James Bond-style murphy bed/dining table unit, mod furnishings and artistic accessories give the display suite definite personality. Plus, the hits of striking colours, patterns, and textures add even more appeal.”

A similar philosophy guided the Georgie win for Best Multi-Family Kitchen. Rizzo says, “The Italian-designed cabinetry and finishes are exquisite. The appliances are European, compact, yet functional. The colours, materials, and textures used exuded quality, luxury, and richness.”

Solterra’s Georgie awards fit perfectly within the company’s public identity. Rizzo concludes that: “We consider the Georgie Awards a great asset for our homeowners who want that extra assurance that they are dealing with a reputable firm with a professional team, and who deliver a quality product recognized by a panel of industry experts. When we are submitting our entries into the Georgie Awards, no matter what category, it is always with this overall goal in mind.”
