Solterra’s inception dates to the 1960s, when a young tradesman trained in Northern Italian artisanship and skilled in the time-honoured traditions of architectural masonry and mechanical trades made his way from Italy through Europe before arriving in Vancouver, Canada at the age of 18. Over the next three decades on North America’s West Coast, he merged artistry with entrepreneurship, building a reputation in Canadian construction defined by discipline, detail and quality.
A belief was passed down from his grandfather in Italy: that only two things in this world are irreplaceable, the sun and the earth. This belief laid the foundation for Solterra long before its official founding in 1999. He was taught that what is truly unique cannot be recreated and must be respected and cared for. The name Solterra, drawn from “Sole e Terra,” reflects that enduring philosophy and continues to guide the company’s commitment to thoughtful design and lasting craftsmanship across Western Canada and the United States.

At Solterra, communities are crafted from the inside out. Floorplans, finishes and fixtures are designed first to prioritize everyday function and lasting quality, with the architectural vision carefully shaped around the homes. It is an approach grounded in building for the people who will live in these homes, not just for today but for a lifetime. Every detail is considered with future years in mind, creating residences designed to be lived in, cared for and passed down. The result is homes that are as functional as they are beautiful, crafted for daily living and built to endure.
Solterra operates as a fully integrated homebuilder, with development, design, construction, sales and marketing working seamlessly under one roof. This unified approach allows every detail to be considered deliberately and every decision to be made with intention. The result is a standard of quality and continuity that defines each home and community from concept to completion.
